Hi! I am Katina. In 2012, I found myself standing at a crossroads—two young children at home and a job loss as an analyst. I wanted to return to the traditional workforce, but it felt impossible without family support for childcare. I knew I needed to carve out a different path, one that allowed me to provide for my family while staying present for my children. So I took a leap and decided to build a business online.

My first venture was creating a blog on Blogger, a platform that was clunky and far from user friendly. Despite its limitations, it was a start. I had no idea what I was doing, but I pressed on, determined to make something work. I spent countless hours combing through YouTube videos and other blogs to figure out how to make my corner of the internet work and make money.

My blog eventually started generating income through AdSense after 8 months. I generated other income through Fiverr and writing blog posts for other bloggers as a freelancer. Keep in mind, 2012 was a time when social media marketing was still in its beginning stages. I had to figure things out largely on my own, experimenting and learning as I went.

To leverage my background in professional dance, I used a site called Ustream to teach live dance choreography classes. I promoted my blog and these classes through a Facebook page, steadily building an audience and creating content, even though it wasn’t polished or professional.

Fast forward to 2015, I launched a new blog called The Desk of Katina Davenport to share my growing knowledge of blogging. Around this time, I discovered Canva—a game-changer for my content creation. It wasn’t easy at first. I struggled to make my designs look professional, struggling with choosing the right fonts and layouts. But I kept learning, and my content began to improve.

Between 2012 and 2018, I poured myself into understanding the details of online business. I opened a Shopify store and applied everything I had learned over the years. My skills grew to include photography, modeling, influencer content, video production, and more advanced marketing techniques like Facebook Live, Periscope (now defunct), SMS marketing, chatbots, and early AI for generating headlines and captions.

Today, I’ve built countless websites for new business owners. I’ve mastered business structure and registration, marketing strategies, organic and paid social media, SEO, AI tools, CRMs, phone systems, video editing, streaming, and project management tools.

I’m driven by a deep desire to empower new business owners—people just like I was—to confidently build their online presence, streamline their systems, and grow their profits using the tools available to succeed.
